I pescatori sud coreani hanno depredato le loro acque, di conseguenza molti si spingono fin nelle acque giapponesi per pescare granchi e anguille. Alcuni vengono scoperti e multati, ma il guadagno è talmente alto che continuano la loro attività illegale.

 

 

Poichè la guardia costiera nipponica sarebbe in grado di individuare eventuali boe che identifichino le reti, i pescatori coreani usano i sistemi GPS. Alcuni addirittura tagliano e abbandonano le reti per scappare il più velocemente possibile. Questo rappresenta un rischio in più per le acque marine.
