Il Presidente di Sony Computer Entertainment America, Jack Tretton, ha ammesso che il lancio della nuova console portatile, al momento chiamata NGP, potrebbe subire delle variazioni. Allo stato attuale il lancio dovrebbe avvenire in una sola regione del mondo e non invece su scala globale come previsto, anche se al momento non è chiaro quale sarà tra America, Giappone ed Europa.

Il motivo del ritardo è da imputare ai recenti eventi accaduti in Giappone che hanno costretto Sony a chiudere temporaneamente diversi impianti in cui hanno sede processi produttivi che coinvolgono anche la nuova console.
