Dopo giorni e giorni di speculazioni arriva la conferma uffciale: Nintendo si appresta a lanciare sul mercato il successore del Wii. L'annuncio arriva con un comunicato ufficiale. La nuova nuova console della casa di Kyoto verrà presentata all'E3 di Los Angeles che si terrà dal 7 al 9 Giugno, dove sarà presente un modello giocabile in avanzatissimo stato di sviluppo.

Tuttavia nel comunicato è specificato che la console non è stata inserita nei programmi economici del colosso giapponese per l'anno fiscale che termina a marzo 2012, il che conferma indirettamente che il lancio avverà dopo marzo 2012.

Il nuovo Hardware non ha al momento un nome definitivo, ma solo il nome del progetto, battezzato Project Cafè
