L'artista Chris Jordan ha realizzato un vero capolavoro. Il suo nome è Gyre e a molti non sembrerà niente di nuovo:

Il quadro è una riproduzione del dipinto 神奈川沖浪裏 (Kanagawa Oki Nami Ura), dell'artista giapponese Hokusai.

Tuttavia, Jordan non ha usato i colori, ma ben 2.4 milioni di pezzi di plastica, ovvero il numero di libbre di plastica che vengono buttati nell'oceano ogni ora (circa 1 milione di chili).

I pezzi usati per Gyre sono stati presi dall'oceano pacifico. Come potete vedere è stato usato davvero di tutto, da spazzolini a bottoni. Ecco a voi uno speciale della tv giapponese:
