Il partito Liberaldemocratico nipponico ha scelto come nuovo leader l'ex ministro delle Finanze, Sadakazu Tanigaki. Subentra all'ex premier Taro Aso sconfitto nel voto del 30 agosto scorso che ha relegato i liberaldemocratici all'opposizione dopo oltre mezzo secolo di dominio politico quasi ininterrotto. Tanigaki, 64 anni, e' stato eletto 24/o presidente del partito (il Jiminto), conquistando 300 dei 498 voti provenienti dai parlamentari Ldp e dai comitati regionali.
