La televisione giapponese NHK, citando alcune fonti interne alla polizia giapponese, ha appena annunciato che secondo tali fonti i morti dovuti al terremoto e conseguente tsunami sono circa 10000 nella sola Prefettura di Miyagi.

Intanto il ministro dell'Economia e Industria Banri Kaieda, ha annunciato che a causa dello stop degli impianti nucleari, è probabile l'interruzione nella normale erogazione energetica, a partire dall'area di Tokyo.
