Il sito scelto per la costruzione della nuova centrale nucleare di Oma in Giappone sarebbe potenzialmente ad elevato rischio sismico. Lo ha scoperto un gruppo di ricercatori dell’universita’ Toyo di Tokyo che ha invitato il governo e J-Power, il gestore dell’impianto che dovrebbe essere operativo dal 2012, a rivedere le procedure di sicurezza. L’area sarebbe stata colpita in passato, tra i 6.000 e i 7.000 anni fa, da almeno due forti terremoti di magnitudo superiore ai 7 gradi Richter.
