altCome già annunciato nei mesi scorsi il Giappone ha iniziato il processo di chiusura delle missioni di supporto aereo in Iraq che si concluderanno definitivamente con la fine dell' anno.

La missione ha permesso in questi anni il rifornimento di uomini e mezzi per via aerea  alle truppe americane e della coalizione internazionale. Partecipazione più volte contestata dai giapponesi  visto il palese contrasto con la nuova costituzione pacifista del Paese.

Il Giappone ha giustificato il suo ritiro visti i notevoli progressi in fatto di autonomia politica e di sicurezza compiuti dall’Iraq, rendendo pressochè superfluo il supporto delle forze giapponesi.
