Eccezionali nevicate si stanno abbattendo in questi giorni anche in Giappone. Le aeree più colpite del paese sono quella settentrionale e quella occidentale ed al momento hanno causato 53 morti. Le abbondanti nevicate hanno causato inoltre centinaia di feriti, provocato ingenti danni al sistema produttivo, alle coltivazioni ed arrecato gravi disagi ai trasporti. Le nevicate hanno raggiunto cifre quasi da record per il paese: superati infatti i 4 metri ad Aomori, 3 metri a Niigata e Yamagata.
