Il Governo giapponese insignirà della Medaglia d'Onore il grandissimo Joe Hisaishi. Il compositore giapponese il cui vero nome è Mamoru Fujisawa, è autore delle colonne sonore di gran parte dei film dello Studio Ghibli tra cui, La Principessa Mononoke, La Città Incantata, Ponyo e molte altre, nonchè di quelle del grande regista giapponese Takeshi "Beat" Kitano.

Nella stessa cerimonia verrà insignito della medaglia d'onore anche Yasuhiro Fukushima, presidente di Square Enix che con il prossimo Final Fantasy XIII si appresta a dominare il mercato natalizio.Questo autunno riceveranno la Medaglia d'Onore 558 uomini e 120 donne.
